Trying to learn C++?

I recently got a book on c++,c++ without fear.I cannot get the djgpp compiler to work.I tried using the compiler i have,but then the examples in the book don't work.

Every time i try to use DJGPP it gives me an error message when i try to compile.Something to the effect it can't build.So its frustrating.Why did the author have to use a compiler that was meant for dos arggghhhh!

Trying to learn C++?
If the book is teaching generic C++ then it is likely you can use pretty much any compiler. Download gcc or one of the other free compilers and you should be able to compile fine with very minimal changes, if any at all.
Reply:My dad is a C++, Clipper, Cobol, dbase, C# (kinda) programmer

and he learned them all at a college. He was in the military which taught him to use a computer and type etc. Then when he got out he worked as an accountant due to his experience in the military. Then the back payed for him to go to college where he learned all of the programs he know really well today. He now works for a company that pays for him to go to classes and seminars to learn new languages

So I would try something like that because learning from the books can be challenging

Good luck

and have a great rest of the day and a fantastic tomorrow

EDIT: By the way I did read your question I just didn't know what you could do thats why I suggested what I suggested =]
Reply:Only thing I can suggest is trying another program. Just finished a C++ class and instead of using the compiler that came with the book, we used Dev-C++. Never had a problem with it. Good luck with learning C++.
Reply:use gcc
