How long does it take about to learn C++ and visual Basic...... how many years has it taken you pernoally?

Actually I keep on learning c++ (c#, java).

But the basics you can learn in about a month, when you have the feeling for it.

visual basic is not a programming language.

I learnt C++. I'd say it took me a year to learn all the basics.
Reply:Well it depends if you are getting a degree in it or not. Usually about 4-6 years of study to fully comprehend the language. But I have seen people with a shorter amount of time do it but they did not know it in depth. Me, I have been doing it for 2 years now and there is still stuff I don't know about it.
Reply:there are too many variables to make an estimate on time. the more time you put into it the sooner you'll learn it.
Reply:All programming is essentially the same. The difference is syntax. However long it takes you assimilate the syntax in both is dpenendent upon your learning ability. To become totally fluent, it may take you 5-6 projects in both. VB sucks.
Reply:It took me about 6 years, But u know, I'm the most professional programmer around:D

kiddin,

If u know the basics of programming, it takes about half-a-year (if u practice good) but if you don't VB will take around 2 years.

I can teach u faster:D
